In Murfreesboro, Second Amendment Freak Holsters His Weapon
The Murfreesboro City Council member who was championing the new guns-in-parks law isn't so sure about it anymore. Toby Gilley did argue it was the right of all God-fearing Americans to waltz around in your city park with his handgun. But Murfreesboro could lose the state high school Spring Fling tournament because--get this!--TSSAA officials think guns are dangerous! Now, the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal reports, Gilley is "shooting for a compromise." Heh. Guess there are legitimate limits to Second Amendment rights.
Toby Gilley
"I think it's a sad commentary on our Constitution when those with gun permits cannot carry their guns. Maybe we could make some kind of compromise. I feel very strongly that on our walking trails you should be able to have your gun. I think we could perhaps compromise that when we have certain events here (like Spring Fling) we don't allow (guns). Maybe we don't have a blanket law having it in effect all the time. We can have it up to the event holder's request."
Rutherford County Democrats are urging people to vote in the DNJ online poll which asks: Should Murfreesboro City Council opt out of a law to take effect Sept. 1 allowing conceal-carry permit holders to take weapons into state and local parks? So far, the anti-gun commies are winning 52-47 percent.
