So you're equating law abiding gun carrying citizens with drunk drivers, fighting dogs? The maiming and killing you are referring to is not done by law abiding citizens except in self defense, which I am all for. Cars and trucks maim and kill. Are you against them too?

As the Tennessean story pointed out, the 9 board members of TSSAA are all high school principals. Guns are not allowed in their schools. In fact, they have a zero-tolerance policy. As TSSAA observes, the Spring Fling events are like an extension of the school day, with students both as participants and observers.

That's a perfectly logical view of things. If TSSAA wants to insist that no guns be allowed at their events, that's perfectly their right. And if Murfreesboro wants to show TSSAA the door for the sake of upholding the right to carry guns in parks under the new law, that now seems to be their right, too.

I thought the mayor of Murfreesboro had a good take on why he did not favor the kind of compromise that Gilley wants: Whatever rule Murfreesboro follows should apply to all children in their parks, not just those in TSSAA events.

And by the way, on the guns in restaurants and bars law, why would that make me feel safer? Let's see. On the off chance that an armed robber, hostage-taker, homicidal maniac or al Qaeda terrorist shows up in a bar or restaurant while I'm there, will I really be safer because some guy at the next table who's already had 3 or 4 beers has a gun handy? If he manages to deploy it successfully, in his impaired condition he's just as likely to hit me or some other innocent bystander as the person he's aiming for.

How much longer must we law-abiding citizens put up with the emasculation of the Constitution of the United States.

I took an oath to uphold and defend, as many have, including all those politicians at the federal level.

I have come to the point of declaring anyone who would infringe or water-down the Constition or Bill of Rights as a traitor.(This means you Feinstein, Laughtenberg, Holder, et al.)

Now each person, in each community, who is tired of the criminal having more rights than the law-abiding, of having local/state/federal politicians lieing out both sides of their mouths just to stay in power; get up off of your butts and take back your towns, cities, states, and Congress. Any judge who displays an activist agenda from the bench gets impeached. - Get the first one, the rest will fall in line.

Vote out the School Board, fire the Principal, tell the mayor to grow some backbone. Tell your Congressman to stop being a traitor to his oath and stop attacking citizens rights to self defense!
