New Low in Jay Cutler Saga: Denver Sports Writer Becomes Nashville's Creepiest Tourist

In what appears to be an actual assignment and not just an excuse to bill the company for an out-of-town wedding, Adams came to Nashville to speak to Jay Cutler, the Denver Broncos' quarterback currently doing his best to force a trade. The problem: He didn't really do his homework.
Weird. When we were writing a story about Vince Young it only took two calls to hear back from Bus. Guess he also recognizes P-I-T-H on his caller ID.
I came here searching for answers -- fishing in the dark, if you will, for Cutler to hear the words come directly from his mouth. Cutler has an offseason home in Nashville. I had no address or phone number to reach him. Shoot, I had no idea if he was even in town. His agent, James "Bus" Cook ignored my calls. It seems ol' Bus only recognizes the letters E-S-P-N on his caller ID.
Read the rest of the article if you want. But only if you'd like to find out some earth-shattering facts about Nashville. Namely, that there's live music on Broadway, white dudes love Tin Roof and it's hard to find one guy in a town of 600,000 with no leads and no insider info. Shocking!

I'm mad that I wasted even a few minutes reading about some a**hole from Denver and his stereotypical vision of Nashville.
If he took 5 minutes to take off his f***ing fanny pack and venture off Broadway, he might have had a completely different experience.
And if you want a f***ing tip, try being polite. Southern hospitality isn't a one way street. You have to give a little to get a little.
The author's writing style reminds me of the "don't taze me bro!" kid.

He belongs in Denver because we love him and he fits well in the mile high city. It looks like we're going to get our Prodigal son back too.
Anyways, this guy writes bogus stories and I never did like his weird writing style. He's hard to follow and uses irrelevant detail. I'll see you guys this summer for Phish at Bonarroo! YEAH!

Of course he wasn't really expecting or trying to find Jay Cutler; he just wanted to give Denver readers a humorous portrayal of Music City.One can argue that the humor didn't work very well, but it is mystifying how an experienced Scene writer, not to mention the rest of you, could have taken this story seriously.

The surviving paper in Denver hired a lot of columnists from the Rocky Mountain News. Sam Adams was not among the top 11 columnists at his own paper, apparently.
Also, he is not paid to write for the website, so lighten up, since he made an ass of himself on his own dime.

Oh, and that the "women" curse like drunken sailors. (Thanks for your incredible insight, Amber. I'm pretty sure you just fed into the "stereotypical vision of Nashville.")
What The Genius Blogger Caleb Hannan fails to recognize is that, had Adams found and interviewed Cutler, it would have been an amazing boon for the fledgling InDenverTimes.
But I guess it's easier to sit your dumb ass in front of the computer all day making phone calls and lampooning real journalists than to go out and act like a real reporter, where sometimes you fail and sometimes you succeed.
Posted On: Thursday, Mar. 26 2009 @ 1:33PMi live in nashville now, have lived in denver, as well as many other cities. if you've moved around a bit, you'll know that there is plenty of poor journalism, and plenty of stupid attempts at humor everywhere. if you get bent out of shape every time somebody diss's you or your home, you are only wasting energy on people that can be ignored easily. both cities have good points and annoying points, they're both fine places to live if you hang with good people. have a little confidence in your home so you don't get bent out of shape by just one stupid jerk.....
