Throwing Bush Under the Bus: Bush Legacy Tour Coming to Nashville
Are you better off today than you were eight years ago? Then your name is probably not President George W. Bush, and you probably don't have a rolling museum of your missteps and mistakes criss-crossing the country. That would be the National Bush Legacy Bus Tour, a 45-foot, 28-ton busload of folly, which makes a stop 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, downtown on Deaderick between 5th and 6th Avenues. From the release:
Americans United for Change, the progressive issue-advocacy group best known for leading the successful fight to beat back President Bush's effort to privatize Social Security in 2005, has hit the road with its latest effort, the Bush Legacy Bus...[a] clean bio-diesel powered museum on wheels featuring several interactive exhibits on how two terms of failed conservative policies supported by Bush and his allies—including Minority Whip Roy Blunt and Rep. Sam Graves—have weakened America's security abroad while neglecting and undermining important priorities here at home....The people of Tennessee will be given an opportunity to reflect on how 8 years of failed Bush/McCain/conservative policies have left an economy in shambles, millions more without health insurance, an endless and mismanaged war in Iraq that has stretched our military to the breaking point, and thousands each day losing their jobs, their homes, and their dignity. AUFC will hold Sen. Lamar Alexander accountable for voting in lockstep with the President 89 percent of the time, according to Congressional Quarterly.
Yeah, yeah—but what we really want to know is, will the bus honor an MTA pass if you need a ride to Bellevue? Admission to the exhibit is free.
