Mother Knows Best: Kelley Cannon's Mom Speaks
Jim Cannon's longtime friend and divorce attorney John Hollins Jr. will never forget the first phone call he received about Jim's death. The call came in to his law office only hours after a housekeeper discovered Jim's dead body stuffed into an upstairs closet of the man's West End home on June 23. Hollins says the woman on the other end of line, the bearer of incomprehensible news, was “out of control, crying, screaming on the phone.”
Only moments before, Hollins was leaving his office, waiting for an elevator on his way to lunch when he heard his secretary field a phone call and begin sobbing and falling apart. Startled, Hollins ran back into his office and picked up the line.
The woman on the other end wailed, “Kelley finally killed Jim She killed him.” He recognized the voice: It was Kelley's own mother, Diane Sanders. “That's how I found out [about Jim's death],” Hollins says.
