There Are Bigger Issues Here

Michael Cass has some entertaining volleys between Metro Council members Emily Evans and Charlie Tygard over the Great Cumberland River Swimathon controversy. For those who haven't been following, Evans is inviting folks to swim across the Nashville potamic, while Tygard is suddenly concerned with safety (even though swimmers will wear life vests, the current will be tamed and safety boats will be on hand). But isn't there something more important to consider? Do we really want to see our Metro Council members in swim wear? That seems much more frightening than the raging river, if you ask me.

There are a few exceptions, though: Jason Holleman and Jerry Maynard in skivvies might not be too bad. Sean McGuire and Greg Adkins perhaps. I'm speaking for the ladies, of course. What do you think?

That is, if I can select a former council member.

I think the whole things is much ado about nothing. But thanks for the rousing and enthusiastic endorsement of my physique, Liz!

And a response from Bruce Barry?

I am surprised Keith Durbin didn't make Liz's list since he was in the Scene's sexy Nashvillians article. Has he inexplicably dropped a peg in the last few months?

Also, just be glad the conservative wing of the Council didn't think this up, or else we'd be talking about Rip Ryman, Michael Craddock, Charlie Tygard, Jim Gotto and Robert Duvall.

Liz,
Cole is acting all hurt. I think it because he didn't make your top 5. So, could you do a shout out to him? He needs a little pick me up after spending 10 months on the Metro budget.

Also, I can't think of anyone who would look cuter in swim suit than Rip Ryman but don't tell Libby.

I know this will be a huge diappointment to the men, but I will be wearing a one piece so manage expectations, ok?

I'd rather see Billy Joe Walls in a swimsuit than Erik Cole.
