Davis: Who's Fred Hobbs?

Well, it's certainly been an interesting week for Lincoln Davis. Earlier, he encountered a topic he didn't want to talk about, and that had to be a first for this blabbermouth congressman. Now, he's finally found someone he doesn't want to schmooze.

Turns out, according to a statement from Davis, he doesn't really know Fred Hobbs and, if he did know him, he wouldn't like him. “Mr. Hobbs is neither a constituent, close friend nor political ally of mine,” Davis says. “His statements were wrong, outrageous and unacceptable.”

Now that everyone has issued their various apologies and denunciations, I guess that's the end of this little flap. One final thought: If we needed proof, this whole episode confirms that Davis and Harold Ford Jr. are really pissed at each other. The rub is that Junior is refusing to help anoint Davis as the 2010 gubernatorial nominee. As Davis said this week, “God bless Harold Ford Jr. Bless his little heart.”
