Pride and Prejudice

Republicans made this little video to welcome Michelle Obama to Nashville today and they're asking Tennessee's radio stations to play patriotic music to mark the occasion. "The Tennessee Republican Party has always been proud of America." And America is proud of the Tennessee Republican Party. My chest is swelling with pride even as I type this.

Wow.

Tate seems like a really cool guy. I think I'm most proud of my country for using nuclear weapons of mass destruction on civilian targets during World War II. Although, invading a sovereign nation under false pretenses is pretty awesome, too. And holding prisoners off shore indefinitely without due process.

Jeff, why do you hate America so? If only you could be more like that guy Juan B. in this video. That’s actually Juan Borges, Republican candidate for Ben West’s District 60 seat in the state House. He’s the cop who’s supposed to be helping improve Metro/Hispanic relations, yet ran his last campaign for District 60 on an anti-illegal immigrant platform.

That second link doesn't seem to work. Try this.

Why does that suprise you, P.J.? Because he's Hispanic and doesn't support illegal immigration? Because he's Hispanic and is a good citizen... a model for our community?

P.J., are you of the mindset that just because Juan is Hispanic, that he should support the illegality of those who steal into our nation? That he shouldn't have independent thoughts outside of what some people would prescribe for his ethnicity?? Or that Juan should not be a good citizen, a productive member of our society?

If that's your mindset, P.J.... then you are a good fit with the racist writers and foggy-minded (sic) journalists of the Nashville Screed.
