Paul Burch Forms Record Club, Releases a Single a Month to Fans

I have a theory: Local contemporary Americana/alt-country king and Lambchop contributor Paul Burch is made out of songs. Literally, he's composed not of flesh and blood, but rather of songs. Eighth notes, treble clefs, the whole nine yards. Why do I say this? Because last August he put out a 14-song collection of tunes known as I'm Still Your Man with his group Paul Burch and The WPA Ballclub, for Hanukkah he released a song a night for eight days, and now he and the Ballclub are preparing to release an A side/B side single every month between now and 2011. From Paul's website:

Welcome to the home of Paul Burch & WPA Ballclub. Starting March 1st Paul Burch & WPA Ballclub will begin the streaming and sale of an A side/B side single every month throughout the rest of the year. For a one-time fee of only $5 fans can join the Paul Burch Record Club which will allow them to subscribe to the entire year-long series. For $10, in addition to receiving all 20 tracks in mp3 form, Paul Burch Record Club members will receive, at the end of the year, a CD of the singles with custom artwork. An additional $15 level will get fans all the mp3s, a CD at the end of the year, and a personalized thank-you note!

A real, live record club! My lady friend tells me that the Rick Springfield Fan Club offered some similar perks back in the day, and there's Sub Pop, but past that, this sounds pretty damn novel to me.
