Adult Swim: Over 18? Got $? Help YEAH!

It's gotta be obvious by now that we're huge supporters of the YEAH project being launched in the 'Boro. If you went to MTSU or are from Murfreesboro, you probably feel the same way, 'cause you know what it's like to grow up in a one-college town. A town where as a kid you have to search high and low for the cool. Or if you grew up in Shitsville like I did, you know how cool places to hang out that actually engage your brain and your creative energy are really rare. And you begin to understand why people who grow up in those places spend a lot of time huffing Scotch Guard and going to the mall instead of, say, making a movie, starting a band, acting or picking up a creative skill. But you want to break the cycle, right? You want to help people help kids be cooler. We all need cooler kids, because cooler kids lead to cooler people (most of the time).

This Monday, Nov. 23, is your chance to be charitable: YEAH staffers are kickin' out the kids and welcoming new members and patrons so you can see for yourself what all these programs are about. They'll be putting on an acting class, a screenprinting class and there will be a jam sesh in the basement. Think of it like a rock 'n' roll PTO meeting, except without all the parental obligation. The whole point is to raise enough dough to keep this party going. A pledge to give $20 a month or a one-time $20 gets you in the door, and keeps them staffed and in supplies. It's like giving to public television, except even more local, because it's at a place where you can roll up, volunteer, hang out and actually see the fruits of your hard-earned dough. So do it!
