Tradition Ain't What It Used to Be: Hank Williams Jr., John McCain and Sarah Palin
And you thought "Raisin' McCain" was stupid. (It is.) You also may have thought there is nothing sadder than Elton John rewriting the lyrics to one of his own songs to fit the story of the day. That was true...until now!
Cream readers, I give you Hank Jr., singing his "new" anti-liberal-media anthem, "McCain Palin-Tradition." Oh yes, it's that bad.
John and Sarah tell you just what they think
They're not gonna blink
And they don't have radical friends to whom their careers are linked
Just when this video gets really excruciating, Junior goes into a bizarre ad lib and loses his place in the song, so at least you can chuckle a little bit before the pain returns.
(Terrorist fist jab: Reason.)

I'm ashamed to be an American after watching this.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 01:45:41 PMI knew Hank Jr. wasn't a good singer, but I had no idea how dreadfully awful he is! Yikes! I think he's an undercover Obama operative.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 02:18:16 PMHank I and III must be ashamed of that turd.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 02:28:46 PMWhat's with all that pointing... ???
Posted 10/14/2008 at 02:32:42 PMThey say not being a douche skips a generation.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 02:54:31 PMHe said "whom"! Hank's a secret elitist!
Posted 10/14/2008 at 02:55:41 PMI heard this on NPR this morning on the way to work. As if going to work wasn't bad enough.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 03:26:52 PMthat air guitar around 4min 15sec was quite impressive.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 03:57:20 PMthis is great.
Hank why do you vote republican?
everyone: to avoid Communism
Posted 10/14/2008 at 04:01:36 PMHoly Crap.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 04:15:59 PMHank has obviously forgotten why he rolled smokes to begin with. Some outlaw he turned out to be.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 04:16:04 PMTo Greatjob: I think he was trying to get the monitor turned up so he could hear himself.
That was fucking awful, by the way. Embarrassing.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 04:37:35 PMHaha "Fox," that's what I was going to say! Most elitist country song ever.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 06:40:11 PMThe youtube comments on this video are priceless. Here's an example from poster ProudAmerican: "This is a Great song!, it tells it like it is, somethng the looney left cant handle!". Wow! What's looney is to listen to this and call it "great". It's one thing to support the republican ticket, it's another to drink so much Kool-Aid that this ends up sounding like music.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 06:41:37 PMAwesome and so truthful.
Posted 10/14/2008 at 08:12:45 PMJohn and Sarah "are just like you and ol' Hank" read: white
what an asshole
Posted 10/14/2008 at 08:15:13 PMCan we hire Hank Jr. to do an anthem for Eric Crafton next?
Posted 10/14/2008 at 08:30:04 PMsomething tells me all his rowdy friends aren't coming over so much anymore.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 01:01:05 PMI saw Jr. cuss out a waitress at the Peabody because she didn't recognize his drinking buddy was John Candy's son.

Posted 10/15/2008 at 03:16:37 PMI wonder if this really pumps the conservative base up, because it really scares the shit outta me!
Posted 10/16/2008 at 10:53:39 PMThere used to be a myspace page called 'Tanked Hank' that had clips of him playing a show completely and utterly wasted and it was the highlight of my life for about two months, but now it's been taken down. Anybody know where I can get those clips? They were like drops of joy from heaven.
Posted 10/17/2008 at 09:05:52 AMagain, no disrespect intended. drunk shows are just great.
