Showbiz Pizza: Kayo Dot w/Most Amazing Century of Science at Tomăto Tomäto

Tomăto Tomäto is a newish pizza joint in Murfreesboro, located where Casa Burrito used to be—the mediocre Mexican restaurant that had awesome shows. Tomăto Tomäto already eclipses Casa Burrito in tastiness, and the pizza place has been making occasional forays into live music for a few months now. Wednesday night might be one of the biggest ones they've had so far, but it didn't make the listings in this week's Scene.
Brooklyn-based Kayo Dot are kinda like a supreme pizza, borrowing just about every ingredient in the kitchen. Think of the crust as a metal foundation onto which all the other influences sit. The sauce holds everything together, like the jazz-peppers, the lounge-mushrooms or the symphonic, um, pepperonis? The singer sometimes sounds like Jeff Buckley, so I guess that's the cheese. Murfreesboro's own like-minded weirdos, Most Amazing Century of Science, are kinda like anchovies. The people who love them really really love them, but a lot of people can't understand why anyone would ever like them. I think that makes anchovies pretty cool.
Wednesday night, starts at 10 p.m. and costs 5 bucks.

I love Kayo Dot. Check out "Gemini becoming the Tripod."
We played at Tomato Tomato a month or so ago. Really good food, suprisingly so for the Boro...
