Blow Pop: Framing Hanley Cover Lil' Wayne's 'Lollipop,' Some Dude Plays Metal to Young Buck

Some of you may be too young to remember this, so you might have to ask that weird balding dude you know who wears fingerless gloves and has a camo iPod cover if you want to know more. Back in "the day," Anthrax did a song called "I'm the Man," in which they got their heavy metal chocolate in rap's lyrical peanut butter (or maybe it was the other way around), and kinda sorta invented "rap metal," if you want to call that a genre. The song contains these lyrics: "They say rap and metal will never mix, but we say they can suck our"—you get the idea. Anthrax also collaborated with Public Enemy on a thrashin' version of PE's "Bring the Noise." The noise was brought, and a lot of terrible bands were formed—and continue to be formed—as a result.
Fast forward to 2008. Nashville asymmetrical outfit Framing Hanley have given the "rock" treatment to Lil' Wayne's incredibly subtle hit song "Lollipop," and filmed a video for it featuring all white people. If you can actually get through the stupid high school shit at the beginning of this video and get to the song itself, you'll probably be sorry.
Then there's this Nashville dude playing metal riffs to a Young Buck song that you—and apparently he—can barely hear.
Thanks for nothing, Anthrax.
Lil' Wayne plays Vanderbilt's Commodore Quake Oct. 23. Framing Hanley are probably trying to get in your sister's pants right now.

The dude that "covered" Young Buck isn't from Nashville. He's in a band called "Lethal Chaos" from a little town called "Bonaroo, Tennessee". Dispensing with the fact that "Bonaroo" isn't a town, Lethal Chaos may be the worst name for a metal band and they've got the music to match. It was so bad I couldn't bring myself to blog it. Thanks for taning one for the team, Steve.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 04:14:03 PMYou were right, I couldn't even make it to the chorus. Horrid.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 04:38:45 PMRight off the bat I thought that was an electric sitar hanging up in the background. The truth can be so disappointing sometimes.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 05:01:02 PMfor some reason, there was a cassette copy of "i'm the man" left in my glove compartment during college. coincidentally, i got a copy of joe jackson's album by the same name around the same time... which... is really good.... which.... that anthrax album.... isn't.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 05:02:03 PMwell, this really is garbage but i can't help feeling that it really wasn't made for adults. i wouldn't really even bother criticizing the lack of taste and invention in gerber baby sausages and strained peas cause it's designed to satisfy soft mushy pea sized brains, just like this band.
Posted 10/15/2008 at 05:27:39 PManthrax actually did a Joe Jackson cover on "Persistence of Time".
oh. and i fucking hate bands and movies whose names start with "Framing", "Killing", "Chasing", "Stabbing" or basically any present participle verb followed with some random person's name.
Killing Zoe, Chasing Amy, Judging Amy, Stabbing Westward (not a name, but still annoying), Killing Meg, Framing Hanley....
i can't think of any more. but you get the point.
the only exception is Killing Joke.
