What's Sherwood Doing in My Back Yard?
We've blogged before about the good folks over at Vimby and their videos regarding the local music/fashion/art/heavy drinking community. Well now Cream contributor Seth Graves has put together a video for Vimby about everyone's favorite East Side rock bar, The 5 Spot. It was filmed during the Prabir and the Substitutes show with Tallest Trees and Totally Snake.
Get a load of Sherwood: "I guess I steer clear of backwoods kind of metal and emo rock...what really bad rednecks and young kids listen to." And thank God for that.

Note to self: Don't go to 5 Spot.
Posted 09/17/2008 at 02:59:44 PMI tend to agree with Sherwood. It makes it hard to book that stuff at 21 up venues because most of the folks that would come to those shows would be either:
a) too young to drink
b) not the type of clientelle that would give a venue a good reputation.
If I was a venue owner, I would be of the same mindset. Tod and Travis have done a great job improving the venue as well as building relationships with the independent music community that DOES draw a drinking crowd. These guys have to eat, right? So bar sales and reputation are critical, considering all things. That is not to say if a band makes sense but doesn't draw drinkers, they wont book them - but a healthy balance is required :)
Kudos guys!
