The Faint Play The Cannery Oct. 20

Before the Oneida show at The End a few weeks ago, Bruce was playing something electronic and sexually frustrated-sounding over the P.A. I was sitting at a table with a few people and we all sort of had the same thought: "This sure sounds like The Faint, but it's...I dunno...not real dancy." And the more we listened to it, the more certain we were that it was The Faint. But it wasn't very dancy. And, we mused, if you take the dancy away from The Faint, what do you have, really?
Now, I can't imagine that The Faint have decided to go all downtempo for their live show, so when they come to The Cannery on Oct. 12, I'm predicting the usual sweaty, eyeshadowy dance party. I remember seeing them play a pretty fun show at Exit/In a few years ago. (TV on the Radio opened—remember them?) On a somewhat random note, the band's new photo reminds me of this installation by Michael Naimark.
Tickets are $19 in advance, $22 day of show and go on sale Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m.
