Shoot the Mountain Is a Real Band

Familiar with the buzz surrounding Shoot the Mountain? No? They've been making it difficult for us to explain just how badass they are, thanks to a lack of recorded material. Unless you've caught their live show since they made the switch from folky alt. country (under the name Jigsaw Mountain Boys) to full-fledged, wicked-cool indie rock, you probably have no clue what you're missing.
The boys have finally posted a little taste on their MySpace page. True, it's a slightly rough demo recorded during a practice, but it's pretty easy to tell Shoot the Mountain are going places. Listen to "Dance Sally" right now. Then go see them during Next Big Nashville at The Basement Sept. 13.

Posted 08/27/2008 at 01:38:21 PMAren't these guys just The States with a different bass player and two new guitarists?
Posted 08/27/2008 at 01:41:55 PMAh, the return of "hat rock."
Posted 08/27/2008 at 01:43:41 PMare you saying that because they share a drummer? or because they would wail on them in a knife fight?
Posted 08/27/2008 at 01:46:07 PMThis town needs a good ol fashion hat-off between Shoot the Mountain and Eureka Gold.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 02:01:40 PMHat Off? I say fuck yes! Knife Fight against the states? I have been waiting for the day! They will die by my big fucking knife!
Posted 08/27/2008 at 02:20:41 PMWait a sec... thats a silly comment.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 02:41:43 PMcute
Posted 08/27/2008 at 03:40:23 PM2 questions.
1) How do I get a NBN schedule? Their webpage is dumb.
2) How do I buy tickets to individual shows? I'd like to see an act or two.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 04:40:04 PMI like Shoot the Mountain because it appears from this picture that Anthony Michael Hall circa-Weird Science is one of their members.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 04:54:43 PMNBN has failed us! They said they'd have the full schedule out by Aug. 25th, and they did not.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 04:56:37 PMTobin, you can't get advance tix to individual shows, you'll just need to show up and pay the cover.
You should really get a wristband though. I guarantee you with a bit of adventurous spirit you'll discover at least 3-4 bands that you've never heard that you'll absolutely love.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 05:16:19 PMYeah failed us by booking 200 bands for us to go see. I'm sure that's an easy task.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 05:30:10 PMYou shouldn't take everything you read seriously. Seriously.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 05:41:57 PMI love that band. Love them. You all should too.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 06:24:41 PMPollstar actually has the full lineup, fyi.
Posted 08/27/2008 at 06:31:14 PMOk ,so I found the lineup. I still have questions.
1) So I can only get tickets at the venue the day of? How early am I going to need to arrive to get a ticket?
2) Is Jeff playing? I didn't see them listed.
3) Why do 2 of the shows I want to see have to be at the same time?
4) One of the shows I want to see is at some place called 'The Anchor'. I googled it and all I could find were a bunch of Jesus humpers. Please tell me these aren't one in the same.
ps. If there is someone who knows all the ins and outs of NBN and wants to answer my assinine questions off blog: tobinthegnome(at)gmail(dot)com
Posted 08/28/2008 at 10:08:38 AM1. Depends.
2. Friday night at Exit/In.
3. Because God wants you to suffer.
4. See #3 above.
Posted 08/28/2008 at 10:13:28 AMSounds like generic indie rock to me
Posted 08/28/2008 at 11:00:23 AMIf shoot The Mountain were a dick, I'd suck it!
Posted 08/28/2008 at 11:08:36 AMYou'd better wait in line, it looks like they're getting a blowjob from everyone in town right now.
Posted 08/28/2008 at 11:34:36 AMMy earlier comment was meant half-jokingly. Can't very well express tone of voice on here...
Posted 08/28/2008 at 11:44:16 AMNo need to explain yourself, Crossdog. We all know you're on the good team.
Posted 08/28/2008 at 11:52:24 AMHey kids - the schedule is 100% online now over at http://nbn08.sched.org/, so go check it out.
I'm also kinda taking on blogging duties over at the official festival blog to help Jason and Ethan out, so keep an eye on that and I'll do my best to keep you in the loop. If there's anything in particular you want to know more about, let me know and I'll try to dig up the info.
I'll try to find out more about individual showcase covers as we get closer to the festival Tobin, but this is what they looked like last year.
