Hear new Nashville Star host Billy Ray Cyrus talk deets.

Your favorite local post-rock outfit MAPS reviewed in Amplifier Magazine.

And finally, those of you who were worried about Summer of Dreamz coming back again this year, fear not. We're like, totally over that. Well, not the concept of dance parties, but the concept of dance parties as a life-changing force or some shit. I can't believe I even thought that. But I was younger then. You know, like 31.

Still, we can't prevent things like Happy Valley from happening. It's "Nashville's newest electro-bash," and as such features the usual art-damaged hipsterati trashed-out aspiring Internet phenoms. Or maybe it's just DJs and drinks. AND, there's a penthouse or something. I'm sure it's no Buddytown/Poor Little Rich Kids/Last Night's Shoes/808 Entertainment.

Update: This post originally had some crap about a Ben Folds DVD, but it was outdated. Sorry!

People Should Strive to Throw Dance Parties:

A)at someone's house

B)using real songs (not dance music - that goes for MINIMALIST/TRANCE/DUB/WHATEVER)

C)without an official DJ (like a politician, it's a job for which you can't trust the people who seek to have it)

If A and C are not possible, as is true with LCD (if B is true then you are probably nearby justin kase), then the songs have to be less cool than you would offer your friends/self. That means throw in some Simple Minds or Oingo Boingo every once and a while: you're conducting business now.

yes! OMG please don't use "dance music" instead of "real songs"! Only the blacks and the gays like dance music!

This show is going to be amazing this season, and I can't wait for the premiere this Monday night on NBC at 9/8c.

I want to know more about the controversy between contestants Charla Corn (http://youtube.com/watch?v=5BHbBHpdCqs) and Thirdtown (http://youtube.com/watch?v=0fUjelgunVs). Why did she get the boot just before the season opener? Hopefully they'll reveal why at the premiere!
