why in the world are the hives playing the wildhorse? i know they've been booking these types of shows but really.... wtf?
Posted 05/15/2008 at 05:42:12 PMThe Hives rock. The article in the scene stinks of sour grapes. Are you guys mad that the Wildhorse quit running ads in the paper so you're not giving them any good press? Were they pissed that you dissed them on your article about bands skipping Nashville and stopped paying? Give us the whole story and don't take it out on the Hives! Should be a rocking show, even at the Wildhorse...(can't believe I said that).
Posted 05/15/2008 at 11:02:56 PMIf I'm not mistaken, the writer of that Hives article lives in New York, and I'm pretty sure he would mostly be oblivious to any perceived Scene/Wildhorse beef. I thought it was a great article, even if I do disagree.
Posted 05/16/2008 at 08:17:36 AMMatt's correct—the writer isn't local and has no concept of the venue this band is playing. But even if he were local, the review has nothing to do with the venue, and we don't have any beef with the Wildhorse. I find it hilarious that simply because someone took an angle on a band that you disagree with that you assume it could not possibly be his legitimate critical take.
Posted 05/16/2008 at 10:02:15 AMdoes this show really start at 6pm?
Posted 05/16/2008 at 11:09:41 AMi like/have liked the hives. i just think they'd do better at mercy or exit in or somewhere that isn't disneyworld.
Posted 05/16/2008 at 11:51:52 AMA friend of mine wound up on the same tour as The Hives, during which time the letter "e" fell off the front skin of their kick drum. Which, of course, made it appear that the band was called The HIVs. Which, sadly, no one in The Hives found funny.
Posted 05/16/2008 at 01:29:08 PMAccording to the operator at the Wildhorse Jack Oblivion and The TN Taerjerkers open at 8:00 PM and the Hives play at 9:00 PM.
Sad that the Scene takes articles from music writers in NYC with so much good local talent (you included Tracy)I didn't know that when I made the comment.
I know there's some dirt in there somewhere though because Wildhorse quit advertising right after the Nashville tour article but they're still in the rage. Please humor me a little by justifying my conspiracy theory.
Posted 05/16/2008 at 01:43:20 PMMy favorite Hive is the fat one!
Posted 05/16/2008 at 05:24:29 PMWhy is it sad that a writer from New York wrote an article for a Nashville paper about a band from Sweden?
