Har Mar Superstar Cancelled

While the Wildhorse Saloon is taking break from the usual washed-up faves of decades past with a show from The Hives tonight, the Mercy Lounge is sticking with its penchant for swingin' after parties that are often as bumpin'—if not more so—than the event that precedes them. The official Hives after party tonight was scheduled to include a live performance by Har Mar Superstar, but according to Har Mar's website, due to a "prolonged battle with the flu and laryngitis" the tubby, scantily clad Ron Jeremy look-a-like won't be blessing us with his sexually charged R&B and electroclash fusion. Organized by Har Mar bassist and Nashville native Denver Dally, the party is still scheduled to go on and features an unspecified number of DJ sets by some still unspecified DJs. Things kick off at 10 p.m. and admission is free.

We were notified this morning that Har Mar Superstar will not be performing tonight. The afterparty is now FREE so come on out. It is still the "official" Hives afterparty so you never know who might be here.

also going on tomorrow night at Betty's (49th ave and Charlotte)...

Lazy Magnet (Providence, RI's "best unclassifiable musician of the year." expect anything)

Dried Blood (ex-Birdfeeder member w/ current Big Nurse, Bad Friend, blah blah blah member; glacial reinterpretations of the humanimal experience)

Aether Jag (the artist formerly known as Mouthpet greases yr mind w/ electronic tectonics)

Witch Detectives (Murfreesboro's own fashionista noize killaz venture out of the House House)

Black Dad (first show! underage soul thrash?!)

For those who haven't been, Betty's burgers are AMAZING and there is no shortage of cheap beer and awesome bartenders. Show starts at 9, donations accepted for the touring band)

COME ENJOY IT WITH US because crawfish are just kind of...nasty...

And for those of you who have never heard of those bands above, consider attending Ricky Young's cd release show with Pico vs Island Trees & The Jane Shermans at Exit In on Saturday. Get krunked. Afterparty is at the 5 Spot at 12:30am with Red,White,Blue performing.

What is it with "noize" dudes using abbrevs like "w/" and "yr" ?

"Savs" time, "DG"

If you have not been to a show at Betty's (and most of you have not, I would have seen you), you owe it to yourself (spelled it out to make everyone more comfortable). If you haven't heard of any of the bands above that's all the more reason to go Saturday. Red, White and Blue in a can all night.

I think "Official After Show Party" is this summer's version of last summer's "Dance Party".

are dance parties not gonna happen this summer? buddytown? Summer of dreams? local honey? ANYONE?

while i can't guarantee there will be no Summer of Dreamz events this summer - as someone may very well be foolish enough to attempt it - I strongly discourage anyone from doing anything of the sort.

While i'd rather not go into detail regarding the personal lives of those who were unfortunate enough to be involved, I will say that nearly all of us agree that we were foolish to think we could alter our respective destinies by simply slapping a flashy label on the season of our choice.

Maybe we got greedy, maybe we flew to close to the sun on borrowed wings, maybe it was the unnecessary "Z" but the Dreamz we dared to realize were only mangled, crushed, or distorted into realities that were essentially the antithesis of everything we planned for them to be.

put simply: say "no" to Summers of Dreamz.

but i'm still down with summer dance parties. i'm sure somebody's throwing something at some time, and when they do, i'll post it here just for you.

I vote to make Mindub's monthly party at the Paradise Park roof/bar the official "after Summer of Dreamz" after party. That shit was TIGHT on Friday night.

Joe Baine said:

Yeah dude, it was definitely the "Z".

Good call Maloney... that shit was definitely bangin'.
