Return to Elliston Square on June 28

Mark your calendars for June 28, when you can travel all the way back in time, 20 years ago to Elliston Square, or what you might call the Rock Block. Spat! Records has released Return to Elliston Square, a compilation celebrating Nashville's early rock scene, and some of these bands of yore have even crawled out of the woodwork to participate by taking the stage at Exit/In to relive the glory. You can read the extensive liner notes composed by former Nashville rock journalist Keith Gordon, who was actually alive then! Or, check out more songs on MySpace. Hell, go to their MySpace just to see the old promo shots of the likes of Shadow 15, The Ratz, Factual and more.
If you can't make the show, buy the record—it's a great starting point for anyone with a fledgling interest in the bands who shaped the scene we're milling around in and bitching about today.

Is this going to be the good version of RCC (with Oscar & Robert), or the crap metal one?
Posted 04/29/2008 at 04:15:37 PMOne of my fondest memories of Elliston Square was sitting at the bar being served by Tommy Smith and listening to Artimus Pyle talk about how many illegitimate children he had across the country (and how he loved each one.)
Posted 04/29/2008 at 05:09:59 PMThis Comp is great. I really loved Jet Black Factory and Dessau. Hopefully Dave Willie and John Elliot will come out. Would love to just seem them there even if their bands aren't playing. I'll be there for this show for sure.
Posted 04/29/2008 at 07:20:39 PMWill Wishcraft or Tomorrow's World be on Volume 2? I sure hope so.
