Thanksgiving Inspiration From Two Pros
It's like an alarm goes off this time of year -- time to find a fun new Thanksgiving dessert.
The family at the extended Thanksgiving table welcome familiar favorites. Innovation isn't much encouraged. It's a little frustrating -- what if I wanted to bust out with some pumpkin profiteroles with nutmeg creme anglaise? But I take it as a challenge to find a familiar-but-different recipe.
Better Homes and Gardens has been tweeting early Thanksgiving dessert recipes, and I couldn't resist the Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake Pie.
The recipe I'm really awaiting is Scott Peacock's coconut cake recipe, which BHG's Twitter meister has been pre-tweeting for a day or so.
Peacock's Atlanta restaurant, Watershed, reinvents Southern food while staying true to its spirit. His cookbook with Edna Lewis is full of authentic but somehow innovative Southern recipes and his cookbook.
A professional coconut cake puts pumpkin pie into the shade, is what I'm saying.
