I'd rather go without a beverage than drink Pepsi. It always tastes like they got the syrup/soda mix wrong. I can't take the chemical taste of diet drinks, either. If I accidentally end up with Pepsi or diet, I can't bring myself to drink anything beyond that first sip.

Luckily, I'm more of a Dr. Pepper drinker, and Mr. Pibb tastes pretty darn close to the original.

I don't think it's a Middle Eastern thing...just anybody operating on a shoestring trying to make a buck. I remember when Martin's BBQ switched from Coke to Pepsi because it cost a lot less. The last time I was there, however, he was offering both. Even Costco is having a problem with Coke pricing and no longer selling it. Personally, I go both ways.

I got a bunch of Diet Coke at the Nashville West Costco last week.

That being said, I will let them bring me a pepsi if need be. I have had a friend order a coke, he wasn't asked "is pepsi okay?", was brought the substituted drink, took one sip and demanded a switch to ice tea. I think his quote was, "the answer to the question you didn't ask is "no, pepsi isn't okay."

I don't understand the Pepsi-hate. I rarely drink soda, but when I was a regular drinker they were more or less interchangeable.

Root Beer > Cherry Coke > Coke/Pepsi

Pepsi is gross. that notwithstanding - Jack Daniel's isn't "fine Tennessee-made bourbon," because it's not bourbon. It's Tennessee whiskey, so designated by the feds, not just by nit-picky Tennessee homers.

I try to stay away from sugary sodas (and diet drinks taste poisonous to me), but I've always loved the spicy flavor and prickly carbonation of Coke.

Pepsi won the "Pepsi Challenge" because it involved one sip.

Since one sip isn't enough, I prefer Coke, to the point of refusing Pepsi product. Tea or water is fine.

Never drink Pepsi, and Coke is only for hangovers or mixed with Maker's. I detest diet soft drinks passionately.

With my meals I only drink water or wine. If I go to the movies and order popcorn I drink Dr. Pepper, but never, ever like it any other place or time.

Did anyone else try the Pepsi Throwback drinks they had this summer? They were made with cane sugar, very good IMO.

Also, I only get fountain drinks at places that have either Wild Cherry Pepsi or Cherry Coke on the tap. Cherry Coke has a lot less cherry flavor, but that is OK. Jersey Mikes on White Bridge and Five Guys both have cherry fountain drinks. McDougal's in Cool Springs must have pulled theirs recently.
