Lien Beef: Sour Grapes in Wine Bar Dispute

Our own Carrington Fox is Exhibit 3 in a dispute between one of East Nashville's hottest hangouts and a local craftsman. The Dickson-based builder of the eye-catching bar at Rumours East filed papers in Davidson County Chancery Court claiming he is owed $15,000. Anthony Ellis has petitioned the court for a lien on the Rumours East property. Among the supporting materials is a line from Fox's review in the Dec. 27, 2007 issue, in which she writes that the wine bar's "creative piece de resistance is artist Tony Ellis' massive serpentine bar...." Exhibit 4 is the article itself.

I sincerely hope everything works out for everyone. And if either party needs counsel, I've got attorney Hamilton Burger on speed dial.

"Lien beef." "Hamilton Burger." Heh.

I love that you're not afraid to stoop so low as to amuse Philistines like me.

Did they really spend $15,000 on a BAR?! And then not pay for it? Idiots.

Unfortunately, the owners of Rumors have a rep in the industry(READ:PURVEYORS) for slow pay, or completely disregarding invoices. I know of a guy who worked three weeks for them and could not get a paycheck from them. It was like "pulling teeth" to quote his words.
Karma has a way of coming back and biting the boo-tay. Just ask Earl.

Technically speaking, if you don't pay, have you actually spent?
