Now that we’ve got a wish list of new restaurants, let’s start housing them. For starters, what would you like to see in the following spaces:

Cummins Station, in the former Jody's Bar Car and Kazu

Longhorn Steakhouse at 110 Lyle Avenue

New Orleans Manor at 1400 Murfreesboro Road

Nick & Rudy’s at 204 21st Avenue

Green Hills Grille at 3805 Green Hills Village Drive

Fire & Ice at 1805 Church Street

Bethel Ethiopian at 1909 Division Street

Go ahead and pencil one in for here: (Link.)

On the scary negative side, I made my second visit to Los Rosales in a week and was the only patron from 11:45-12:30 pm. Let's save the good ones before we start worrying about filling the holes!

Ah, yes, predicting the holes is a whole new question, one that is too depressing to dwell on.

I would like to see a tapas place go into Nick and Ruby's!

Another place where a restaurant is much needed is the old Seanachie's Irish Pub location at the corner of Broadway and 4th. That prime spot has been vacant for many years!

What about John Crowe's pizza restaurant?

I haven't heard anything about that lately.

I'd vote for Apu's Garden of Pakistani Delights at the bar-car

I hate to throw a dose of reality on your restaurant fantasy, but here it is;

right now there are way too many restaurants of all shapes and sizes for the market to support.

We are sliding head first into a recession and people are not going out more, they are in fact going out less.

What we need to think about is making smart decisions with our dining dollars and supporting the restaurants that we (each of us) want to keep around.

I could tell you which ones are the best and that those are the ones you should patronize, but I won't, you make the call.
