Fired & Iced
After only a few short months, Fire & Ice Grill has closed. The short-lived Italian-American restaurant at 1805 Church St. was a project of Sitar restaurant owner Naresh Kumar and his nephew Benny Kumar. Prior to the launch of Fire & Ice, Naresh Kumar briefly operated Indian restaurant Madras Bhavan in the location.
With a sprawling menu of homemade pizzas, beef tips and various sandwiches, Fire & Ice was a time-intensive and non-lucrative project for the team, who have now purchased a gas station. Kumar has no plans to fill the spot, which is adjacent to the recently opened Suraj restaurant.

Judging from that menu, it sounds like a natural progression.

Posted 04/25/2008 at 12:39:03 PManyway, we all guessed this wasn't gonna work...

Posted 04/25/2008 at 02:03:30 PMPlease pass along my name the next time you hear of an opening for a ridiculously overpaid restaurant consultant. Not that it wouldn't be tough giving up being a ridiculously underpaid writer.

Posted 04/25/2008 at 08:38:55 PMis fire & ice not supposed to be part of iron fork? will they be replaced or are are we just out of luck?
Sadly, the very short-lived Madras Bhavan was hands down the best Indian restaurant this town had seen.
Posted 04/26/2008 at 08:20:23 AMWhile on the topic of recently closed eateries; does anyone have information on what happened at Aurora bakery? The last time I visited the sign on the door stated under new management. A few visits later signs were up for an auction. Now the place looks empty. Truly sad, they had the best bread pudding and Tres Leches cake I’ve had.
Posted 04/28/2008 at 10:27:31 AMwe ate here.. and while it was sort of yummy, the restaurant had a clear identity crisis. And no naan, which is obscene for an Indian(ish) restaurant. Basically, the whole thing was very confusing. I'm still confused.
