Congratulations to Molly F. and Sloopy

Posted April 28, 2008 at 12:36:59 PM by Carrington Fox

We have two winners in our concurrent contests for the Iron Fork tickets.

As much as we hate to reward anyone for introducing the notion of pork belly-flavored pig rectum into the collective consciousness, we gotta give it up for Molly F.

Equally creative was Sloopy's recipe for the Vacation Sunburn Madwich—grilled pineapple, coconut mayo, slow-roasted pork and bacon on Hawaiian bread. Like they say, tan fat is better than pale fat.

You can collect your pairs of Iron Fork tickets at Will Call on Wednesday night. Doors open at 6 p.m.

You can buy Iron Fork tickets here.

Or as Adam Dread used to say in his Man of Leisure days, "tan fat is muscle".

Hot damn! I'll see if I can get Laura Wilson to whip up some samples for everyone to try on Weds. Any ideas, Laura? I bet DW's got some extra rectums lying around...

if laura makes pig rectum i will be forced to blog about it.

fair warning.

Now that's anal retentive.

Not it! Not it! Though I had the bung at Golden Coast and it was not bad, but is exactly what it sounds like. How about pork belly with the bung on the side (and a little to the back), just like nature intended?

Claudia (cook eat FRET) said:

my guess is that you'd never cook in this town again. (which would be a cryin' shame, i tell ya... cause i'd have to follow you)

nashville is not ready to be bunged
and i respect her for that
exit only

laura, we must draw the line...
join with me in drawing that line...
i'm beggin ya please, do not cross said line!

Now, now, Laura. Don't let me down! You're on the cutting edge!

Claudia, you are right -- Nashville's not ready to be bunged. But just a few short years ago, Nashville wasn't ready to be kidneyed or beef hearted or sweetbreaded, but look at 'em now! I've seen Laura cook up some crazy shit, and people just wolf it down and ask for more.

Now that we've gone renal, anal's all that's left.

It's the final frontier.

Claudia (cook eat FRET) said:

some frontiers are best left unexplored
sweetbreads and kidneys, no prob...

beef hearted?

oh and no tripe either
that stuff is rank

LWIlson said:

How about the tripe at City House, though? I've had it several times, always delicious. Stewed with tomatoes and chickpeas, I think.

Claudia (cook eat FRET) said:

i had it there that one time - it just tasted like chickpeas and tomatoes stew to me. no real tripe taste in the least. but i only had one bite or so...

Molly F. said:

Yes, Claudia. Beef heart. We've served it at Ombi many times. You've probably had some.

Wait, was I not supposed to say that?

Take comfort that it was during Offal Rob's tenure, so you're probably safe...for now.
