Way to go, Fox. That was supposed to be our little secret.
Posted 10/09/2007 at 11:17:53 AMHey, at least she didn't mention the Cajun place—yoicks!
Posted 10/09/2007 at 11:26:40 AMIs it good? Went the other night, we were hungry, they didn't have their %$#@ together so we waited 20 minutes to be seated then went elsewhere. Just opened, so we'll wait a month and give it another shot.
Posted 10/14/2007 at 07:24:27 PMPLace is the best thing that ever happened to Bellevue.
Posted 10/15/2007 at 09:38:05 AMAs the Chef of Wildwood Oak Fired Kitchen, I would like to introduce myself and my restaurant. I am so excited to be in Nashville.
Posted 10/15/2007 at 09:44:14 AMWildwood Oak Fired Kitchen is casual upscale neighborhood dining with a menu based around an oak fired oven. Our cuisine is approachably creative. We are proud to utilize local products and change the menu to migrate through the seasons. We offer 40 wines for under $40. Wines are selected from all over the world, focusing on "jewels" from small wine makers.
We are still working out some kinks with our dessert program. Does anyone know of an amazing local bakery here in town??
We had a great experience at Wildwood last night..thanks for the treat.
Posted 10/15/2007 at 12:59:24 PMTo the Chef: the amazing local bakery is Provence Breads and Cafe. They provide great product and for my events at Vanderbilt.
Best restaurant in Nashville, hands down.
Posted 10/15/2007 at 06:57:00 PMI agree, BEST!!!
Posted 10/16/2007 at 09:59:10 AMThis place is UNBELIEVABLE! I hear the chef is from Seattle. The seafood is stellar. We had salmon and Tuna. They were both super fresh and delicious. FINALLY... Nashville has an excellent restaurant! Definately try the seafood... the chef has brought the West Cost to Nashville.
Posted 10/16/2007 at 10:38:45 AMFood made with LOVE...the highest compliment I can give. Great service (thanks, Ben). My only suggestion...make sure the plates have been heated before serving! I can't wait to go back.
Posted 10/16/2007 at 06:59:08 PMOMG!!!
Posted 10/17/2007 at 06:10:56 AMThe best.
I wish it weren't so far away.
I could live there.
I have eaten here twice a week, since the restaurant opened. They had some small rifts in the beginning, but Darryl, the chef, and his crew are culinary geniuses!! I enjoy the ever-changing specials and am excited for the new wine menu to come in January. I have grwon close to the staff and have known one of them for years and I applaud him on making the shift to GM. Congrats to Wildwood and keep up the great work! A++++ Food and Service in Bellevue..We needed that!!!
Posted 12/23/2007 at 10:18:10 AMMy wife and I have eaten there 5-6 times since the restaurant opened. The food is great but the atmosphere is horrible. The kitchen is an open kitchen with no real separation from the dining area. The chef barks out meal orders to the cooks like the guy on the Hell's Kitchen "reality show." He can be heard OUTSIDE the restaurant! Reminds me of a drill seargent. There is a constant sound of plates, pots and pans being tossed around. They really need to isolate the kithen from the dining area or they will lose their crowd quickly.
I havent heard that much chaos in a dining area since my college cafeteria days.
I believe kids under the age of 5 out numbered adults the night we were there, only adding to the overall chaos. Frankly we couldn't wait to get out of there and we ordered our dessert to go.
If you are looking for a quiet dinner this is not the place to go. It's a shame because the food is quite good. Perhaps if they totally enclosed the kitchen with plexiglass we will return- if not, there are too many other quiet restaurants.
Posted 01/11/2008 at 06:26:39 PMThe food was okay the first time we went but they were short staffed that night. I am actually going back tonight with some friends and hope that it is wonderful. Bellevue really needs a cool restaurant.
Posted 01/16/2008 at 03:17:48 PMHad dinner there for the first time. Food was great but atomosphere was not great. Extremely loud, high ceilings, loud music. It was Friday night and we got there early. Ushered to a table in the front of the restaurant - with a great view of the parking lot and Krogers. Asked to be moved, was put at the first booth by the door where all the overflow from the bar was literally falling all over our table-It had been raining that night - got a cold blast of air every time the door opened. They should not have a table in that spot. They should also consider bamboo shades for the front window, stained glass something-- paying that much for dinner and having car headlights in your face is not cool. There was no water bought to the table, no bread with the meal. The meal was quite pricey - although very close to home I would not go back on a Friday or Saturday night unless they take reservations for those nights. Bellevue needs a good restaurant--I hope this one makes it but I think a few improvements need to be made.
Posted 02/29/2008 at 09:06:25 AMHaving had my first dining experience there on March 1, I would associate myself with the preceding remarks by George Fisher (1/11) and Caroline (2/29). The food is SO good, but the service is SO uneven, and the noise level is SO,SO bad that I'm not likely to give it a second chance unless I hear that these problems have been addressed. And that's a shame. One would hope that really good food at a competitive price would be enough to succeed in our area. My guess is that it won't unless these problems are can be rectified...sooner rather than later.
Posted 03/02/2008 at 07:45:51 PMI think both the food and the service are sub par at Wildwood. It's not worth the money, that's for sure. I hope they turn it around because there are no places to eat in this area. I heard there is a new asian place where the old China Buffet was on 70s. Hopefully, that will be good along with the new places going in in the Harpeth Valley shops.
Posted 03/03/2008 at 12:06:28 AMA group of 4 dined at Wildwood this week and were
Posted 03/20/2008 at 08:41:38 PMvery impressed. Liked the ambience is great. I
never heard any "barking chef's" the service was
excellent and the food very good. The package
is all there. Even if I brought my kids...the
benefit is great food at a place that accomodates children. There are alot of resturants in this
city and other cities that have a very vibrant activity and an open kitchen is part of it. The wine selection is good. Thanks for a great time we will be back many times.
Sweet 16th is the BEST LOCAL BAKERY in Nashville. No competition
Posted 04/03/2008 at 10:27:09 AMWow! I was so unimpressed, once again. From the beginning of the seating in the filthy fabric on the booth seats to the cold steak for $28. Chef's are LOUD barking orders and even cursing. We started at the bar and the girl bartender ignored us for 10 mins. while she talked to friends and the hostess. She never smiled and seemed miserable to work there. I would be too. There was no toilet tissue in the restroom, and I could swear I smelled marijuana upon some staff walking back in from the back door. My meal including the wine was over $100 for my wife and I. I did enjoy my wine. I am accustomed to paying this and dining out. We dined at a table closest to kitchen and end of where the servers come out, and when sending my steak back because it was cold I heard a chef say #%&^ them, it was hot. Are you kidding me?? This place needs some serious help. This is my 4th time, and I must say I have been slightly impressed once. What is up with the service and staff and Mgt. turnover. Something sounds and looks fishy. I won't be back and will sound off in the community. 100 WEST will give them a run for their money. I don't usually complain and for this much, but it was awful. Bartender really bad service!!!
Posted 04/05/2008 at 12:19:24 PMWas there last night, thought the place was great. I can see how the noise level could be an issue for some people on the weekends, but I liked the open kitchen atmosphere. I will tell my friends, and be back for many a meal. Nice to have a good place to eat in Bellevue.
Posted 04/15/2008 at 12:12:53 PMBad Service at bar from girl bartender. Our food was mediocre and lukewarm, and she gave us a scowl face and snatched away our plates when we asked for it to be heated. The kitchen barking orders out so loud we were not enjoying the experience at all. It was slightly busy this weekend night, but I don't believe that is what we deserved for a $76 tab. I won't be back and if they want the first impression of the front door/bar to be welcoming...they need to be placing a now hiring sign on the front door. The bartender is a %4#@8! What a shame, we had heard great things and drove from cool Springs to find ourselves in a lackluster "school cafeteria loud" restaurant with overpriced mediocre food and unpleasant and cold service!!! YUCK!!!
Posted 05/05/2008 at 10:49:15 AMwelcome to the thread that will not die...
Posted 05/05/2008 at 03:20:42 PMwill someone please explain why this article is getting so many respones? I was looking for the Wildwood website, and all of these "threads" came up. It seems like some people are really turned off by the place. I was told it was a great place to eat? Not sure if I should go after reading all of these coments. Is it personal, or valid?
Posted 05/07/2008 at 03:06:48 PMpretty much all the negative comments hear are false... except a few small real concerns we have already addressed, most names are made up to hide true identity...I own the place and don't want to participate in the BS...we are getting rave reviews by the real critics and we are busy...the comments about me and how I treat my staff are funny...thats how we(our staff) see it base on our business and comments from real people...there is always a few people that like to rain on a parade...sorry, almost everyone loves what we do and it shows, we are not perfect but we do a great job
Posted 05/07/2008 at 11:29:20 PMDear Dave - unfortunately, the negative comments are not false. Your girl bartender stinks (unless you have removed her since Feb. 16, which was my last outing at Wildwood). She's had 2 chances with us and she blew them both. You don't ignore customers when they sit at your bar - ever - period. Especially when you're not busy!! You don't serve a $10 shot of liquor in a glass with a piece of paper in it, and then act like a snit when your customer asks for another shot in a clean glass. You don't serve a $10 shot of liquor in a dirty, obviously greasy & dusty glass, and then again, act like a snit when it's brought to your attention. Is she a relative? Your girlfriend? She STINKS as a bartender and surely to heaven you've fired her by now. Our first night there was wonderful (different bartender), so we came back for a 2nd - and experienced her. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, and came back a 3rd time. If she still works there, we'll never come back, which is a shame, but nothing sets me off like a lazy, snotty, indifferent bartender.
Posted 05/13/2008 at 04:10:21 PMI have been to Wildwood a number of times. The food at Wildwood is superb, the regular menu is wonderful, and the specials are always a surprise. It is a great place to go and have a glass of wine. I’ve sat at the bar to wait for a table and also to have dinner there and not once have I noticed the bartender ignore anyone. She is always warm, polite and very accommodating - I think an asset to the restaurant. It sounds like the negative comments come from a former disgruntled employee, as they are very personal. I know I will be back to Wildwood often; it is a wonderful treat in Bellevue.
